Ortega Elementary recently hosted Week of the Arts - Arts Around the World, an event that provided parents, neighborhood residents and local business owners the opportunity to visit to see the students’ art exhibits and activities.
Throughout the school, student created art from various countries lined the walls as student docents (tour guides) took visitors through each display.
Students also had the opportunity to work with the Art Institute of Jacksonville on a project titled “We’re Not Robots,” as well as learn how to square dance and watch a variety of performances outside on the school lawn.
Ortega Elementary is in the process of becoming a Museum Magnet school, and should know if they receive this distinction in the fall of 2010.
