Spotlight On Education

Duval County Schools Recognized by Newsweek's America's Best High Schools

Seven Duval County schools have been recognized as America's Top Public High Schools by Newsweek Magazine, with two of the schools placing in the top 10.

Stanton College Preparatory School ranked third in the nation and Paxon School for Advanced Studies ranked eighth. Additionally, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts ranked 31 and Mandarin High, 96.

Rounding out the list of the nation's top high schools were Fletcher, Sandalwood and Englewood.

Each year, Newsweek Magazine compiles a list from more than 1,600 of the top high schools in the country. Schools were ranked based on the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken tests taken at each school.

Stanton and Paxon have made Newsweek's top 10 for several years, with Stanton finishing fourth last year and Paxon sixth.
