Coach Honored for 35 Years of Service to Raines High School

After a recent basketball match between Raines and Ribault high schools, the Raines High School gym was named in honor of a very special coach, teacher, alumnus and mentor: Douglas White.

Mr. White, who graduated from Raines in 1971, has served as the school's athletic director, coach and as a teacher in the math department where he has taught more than 5,500 students during his tenure. Under his direction and leadership, the basketball team has won two back-to-back state championships, as well as a number of conference, district, regional and tournament championships.

The students and staff of Raines High School, as well as the Duval County Public Schools' district, are honored to recognize this ‘Valiant Viking’ for his 35 years of service.
