Spotlight On Education

Landmark Middle Bridging the Gap for Parents and Students

Landmark Middle School is promoting the effort of ‘Bridging the Gap’ between elementary and middle school students. To support the national, district and school goal of ‘No Child Left Behind,’ the school is encouraging new sixth-grade parents and students to visit their teachers every Monday in a parent collaboration professional learning community (PC PLC).

The collaboration has encouraged student success, and allowed for relationships to build between families and schools. The sixth-grade parents would like for the incoming fifth-grade parents and students to know that meeting with the teachers each week helps make the transition from fifth-grade to sixth-grade a smooth one.

If anyone would like to know more about the PC PLC at Landmark, or would like to know how to begin their own PC PLC, you can contact Donna Harla at klingd@duvalschools.org. She will be happy to assist you and answer any questions you may have, as it saves time and puts effective communication and relationship building into supporting student success.
