Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra members recently stopped by
Oceanway Elementary and performed two concerts for the students.
As a woodwind quintet, they showed how each instrument is played, talked about some of the elements of music such as melody and harmony, and allowed time for questions and comments at the end.
The visit was part of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra's outreach program for education, and was provided at no cost to the school. The students were able to personally see instruments and hear music that they might not experience anywhere else.
Each year, more than 100,000 children participate in the Jacksonville Symphony's extensive array of interactive and engaging music education programs.
