Duval County Public Schools’ district-wide Green Champions program won the Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Award in the government category.
Keep Jacksonville Beautiful is the local affiliate, sponsored by the City of Jacksonville, of Keep America Beautiful. The Keep Jacksonville Beautiful campaign mission statement is to support community beautification, enhance community pride and improve the quality of life in Jacksonville through provision of outreach, educational activities and programming.
Each year Mayor John Peyton presents dozens of awards to individuals, groups and organizations that have had a significant impact on improving and preserving their environmental surroundings.
The district will receive a plaque, presented by the Mayor and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Chair Chris Buckley at the Mayor’s Environmental Luncheon on March 25.
Also receiving a Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Award in the school categories are Hendricks Avenue Elementary, Kirby-Smith Middle and Alden Road Exceptional Student Center.
Congratulations to these schools and the district green champions for their outstanding contributions to the Jacksonville area. Your dedication to maintaining a clean and healthy environment is inspiring and a great example of how everyone can make a difference.
