More than 200 students recently participated in the Northeast Florida World Language Festival at Orange Park High School.

The event provided students the opportunity to compete in French, Spanish and American Sign Language Brain Brawls, as well as an international relay race, poetry declamations, impromptu speaking, poster creations, vocabulary bees and an international idol contest.
Students from Fletcher and Mandarin high schools received top recognition in the French competition, while students from Oceanway and Landon middle schools, as well as Wolfson and Fletcher high schools and Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, earned top honors in the Spanish competition.
"It is extremely exciting to experience the enthusiasm and impressive accomplishments in world language acquisition of the students in Duval County Public Schools," said Dr. Joanne Davis, supervisor of world languages.
Congratulations to the following teachers who participated in this exciting event: Jacki Cinotti, coordinator, Dr. Lauren McCombs, Carmen Thies, Mary Johnson, Myra Johnson, Linda Dennis, Laura Solomon, Sonia Bullock, Hazel Ghiotto, Gale Jones and Carol Suarez.
