Many Duval County Public Schools' students are involved with the Boys and Girls Club of America. The National Keystone Conference of the Boys and Girls Club is a positive leadership experience where young adults and teens engage and socialize with their peers, explore relevant national and international issues, and prepare as leaders of their
respective communities. The objectives of the conference are to provide teens and young adults with a fun, safe learning environment in which the values and traditions of the National Keystone program are reinforced.
More than 1,500 young men and women from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds from throughout the country traveled to the national conference. Also attending and speaking at the event was
Andrew Robinson Elementary teacher William Jackson.
During his presentation, Mr. Jackson discussed bullying/cyber bullying and the responsibilities of being a leader in our schools and community. Mr. Jackson also shared valuable information concerning higher education, employment and the dangers of inappropriate content placed
on social media and networking sites.
Mr. Jackson is a frequent blogger about technology, and also discussed Science Technology Education Medicine (STEM) issues and the need for minority youth to seek more involvement in these fields to compete for future jobs that require these skills.
