In preparation for Florida Writes, local storyteller Kaye Byrnes visited
New Berlin Elementary to inspire fourth-grade students to tell their best stories for the statewide writing test.
Next up is FCAT reading, math and science, which will be held the week of April 11. Principal Wanda Reese wishes her students "Good Luck" on the test, and is encouraging parents to make sure their child gets plenty of sleep, has a healthy breakfast each morning of the test and arrives to school on time.
New Berlin Elementary has some other exciting events planned for April after the FCAT.
In honor of Earth Day, third-grade students will attend a special energy presentation by JEA. Also in April, the entire school will enjoy a pep rally to kickoff the school's "Fun Run," a nine-day interactive program where students learn a daily character development lesson that ties into the fitness activity. All students will receive a free shirt to wear at the May 6 "Fun Run" event, which also allows students to get sponsors for their run to raise money for the school.
