Scott Adolf, adaptive physical education teacher for DCPS, recently submitted a video to the American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation (AAPAR) for their Every Body Can! video contest.
Every Body Can! is a nationwide video contest that promotes, celebrates or teaches adapted and inclusive physical activity while raising awareness about the opportunities for and accomplishments of people with disabilities.
Mr. Adolf’s video featured students with autism. “As a teacher of special needs students or students with disabilities, I'm always looking for events in the community to increase advocacy for my students,” says Adolf. “The possibilities for students with disabilities are endless if given an opportunity to participate; all we need to do as a society is to give them a chance.”
His submission, "Jungle Quest" was chosen as a winner for the Good Games category and will be featured at AAPAR’s Recognizing Outstanding Leaders Awards evening at the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance National Convention, held in San Diego on Thursday, March 31 from 7 to 9 p.m. They will celebrate AAPAR leaders’ achievements and screen the award-winning videos. They will also recognize those who have served AAPAR and present the most prestigious AAPAR and council awards.
Mr. Adolf’s
video was produced by DCPS’ Television Communication Department and was featured in the district’s student-narrated show REAL School.
Congratulations Mr. Adolf on helping to create such an inspiring, informative and motivational video!
