Andrew Robinson Students Visit Cummer Museum

Students at Andrew Robinson Elementary recently had the opportunity to visit the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens for a field trip organized by art education instructor and local artist Anthony T. Sznakowski, or Mr. S as he is affectionately called by his students. Mr. S is also a Cathedral Arts Project instructor.

Visiting the Cummer Museum allowed students to learn more about art history, painting, sculpting and other forms of artistic expression. They also learned about various artists and their styles, lives and motivations.

Due to the art education program students are involved with at Andrew Robinson, they were able to answer questions that many adults would be challenged by because of lack of exposure to the arts. The students are well prepared for future participation in arts and possible careers as artists.

When visiting Andrew Robinson Elementary, student work can be seen displayed in the hallways and classrooms. Additionally, Mr. S has created several murals on the walls inside and outside of the school as a reminder that art and artists impact their lives every day.
