Four DCPS’ High Schools to Implement Florida’s 12th Grade College Success Academies

Congratulations to Sandalwood, Lee, Terry Parker and Englewood high schools for being selected to implement Florida’s 12th Grade College Success Academies, in partnership with Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ). Only 21 high schools throughout the state were selected to implement this program.

Through this program these schools, with the support of FSCJ, will provide students with an opportunity to satisfy remediation requirements to enter college-credit courses as determined by scores on an approved, post-secondary readiness test, prior to high school graduation. With support from the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), teachers from these high schools and FSCJ will work together to provide students with instruction that is directly aligned with the skills that students need to be successful in college-level coursework.

This is a great opportunity for these schools and their students. These beneficial courses will allow students to graduate high school with the necessary tools to excel on a college campus. DCPS’ vision states, “Every student will graduate from Duval County Public Schools with the knowledge and skills to be successful in post-secondary education and/or the workforce,” and this program is one of the many ways we will continue to achieve this goal.
