Congratulations to Rio Lavigne, student at
Stanton College Preparatory, for winning first-place in the national Wolfram Research Mu Alpha Theta presentation contest.
Rio will receive a Mathematica for Students license and $1,000 in prize money.
Mathematica is renowned as the world's ultimate application for computations. This resource is used by Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, research labs and universities.
Mathematica for Students, a specialized version of Mathematica, is a useful educational tool to assist students with homework assignments and school projects in a variety of subjects.
Rio created her presentation, “Elliptic Curve Point Addition,” without any help or guidance from her teacher. “This was entirely self-directed,” said Stanton’s Mu Alpha Theta sponsor Clay Peterson. “She sought out the project and completed it on her own, very impressive!”
This is a great honor for Rio and her self-motivation is impressive. This will be a very beneficial tool to her as she finishes her education and enters her professional career.
