Fifth-grade students at
Don Brewer Elementary recently spent a Saturday getting hands-on with science. The school's Science Day was designed to review important concepts students need for the FCAT but also need for everyday living.
Science teacher Jay Bebermeyer says this day was a chance for students to broaden their horizons. "The review was an opportunity for the students to understand the science behind the magic. Now our students know that it's not magic...it's science!" said Bebermeyer.
Students were able to see how fireworks reacted underwater, the reaction when Mentos are added to diet soda and reviewed scientific thinking through a Jeopardy game.
"It was a morning filled with science activities and fun," said Principal Collins.
