Grand Park Career Center recently hosted its career fair for students to have the opportunity to explore various career options in one convenient location.
Prior to the career fair, students completed a survey that indicated the kinds of careers they would be interested in pursuing. Based on the information gathered, several professional organizations were invited to set-up booths and activities for the students to learn more about the jobs their company offers. This gave students the chance to ask specific questions directly to individuals who work in the fields the students are interested in.
"It truly takes a village to help us shape lives, one student at a time," said Principal Blue.
Participating occupations included the Job Corps, restaurant owners, firefighters, FBI agents, U.S. Army and Air Force, and a cosmetologist entrepreneur.
During the event, students and faculty had an opportunity to win prizes in the raffle drawings. As a thank-you to the guests, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to each company, in addition, a small ceremony with snacks and beverages was held in the teacher’s lounge after school.
