Latin Students at Stanton College Preparatory Compete in State Competition

Congratulations to the Stanton College Preparatory Latin team which earned fourth-place in the State Academic Sweepstakes and sixth-place in the overall Sweepstakes.

Stanton students earned 47 individual awards and all three Certamen received awards for an excellent performance in the competition. The advanced Certamen team placed third in the state.

Several students excelled at the competition and received special awards. As the winner of the academic decathlon, Will Warden was named the top Latin scholar of the state competition and earned $100. Hunter McWinn was awarded $50 for winning first-place in both his categories, advanced derivatives and vocabulary. Reno Varghese was awarded a Best in Show medal for his score in advanced Hellenic history.

Casey Carpenter-Smith is the teacher at Stanton College Preparatory School.
