Brittney Jones, senior in the AVID program at
Terry Parker High School, was selected as a 2011 Dell Scholar. Brittney is one of 300 national recipients, and the only recipient from Duval County to receive this award.
Britney will receive $20,000, evenly distributed throughout four years, a laptop computer and a printer.
“There isn’t a more deserving student than Britney,” said AVID teacher Katrina Blakely.
The Dell Scholars Program is a scholarship program unique in the type of students it supports and how it fosters those students on their path to a college degree. An initiative of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, the Dell Scholars Program provides its students with resources and mentoring beyond initial financial assistance to ensure they have the support they need to obtain a college degree.
Qualifications for a Dell Scholarship include:
- Participating in a Michael & Susan Dell Foundation
approved college readiness program for a minimum of two years;
- Graduating from an accredited high school this academic year;
- Earning a minimum of a 2.4 GPA;
- Demonstrated need for financial assistance;
- Planning to enter a bachelor's degree program at an accredited higher education institution in the fall directly after your graduation from high school; and
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
Congratulations Britney on this wonderful accomplishment!
