New Berlin Elementary students raised more than $25,000 at the school's first ever Boosterthon Fun Run. This nine-day PTA fundraising event allowed students to get pledges for each lap they ran, up to 35 laps. Ten percent of the money raised will stay in the students' classrooms, and the rest will go to supply the classrooms in the new building annex that opens in the fall.
The Boosterthon Fun Run wraps fitness, leadership and character all in one to motivate students to be all they can be. Students completed their laps by pretending to be an airplane, a cowboy, a rock star, and hopping like a bunny, with one of the favorite laps being the "Thank you for Being a Friend" lap.
Teachers kept track of each lap by placing a mark on the back of each student's free fun run shirt. Even school mascot Champ the Bear got into the spirit by helping the students count their laps. Thanks to the PTA and all the families who supported the school with their pledge during this year's Boosterthon Fun Run. This was a great experience for the students to get exercise while having fun at the same time.
