The 2011 Sunshine Math Competition was held recently at Wolfson High School. More than 30 elementary schools with approximately 170 students participated in this year’s event.
The
Lake Forest Elementary orchestra, conducted by Mr. Richard Wright, entertained the parents while the participants were taking their tests. In addition, Jane Owen from Explore Learning, demonstrated several products from the Gizmos website.
Reagan Heaton, student at
Merrill Road Elementary, was so excited about being in the competition that she participated from her hospital room at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Reagan was presented a special award by Ms. Vanessa Mangual, district math coach, who went to the hospital room to administer the test to Reagan.
