Mayor-Elect Visits S.P. Livingston Elementary

Mayor-elect Alvin Brown visited the students at S.P. Livingston Elementary as a reward for their success on this year’s FCAT. Earlier this year, the school promised the students that if they scored a 3 or higher on the FCAT, they would be treated to lunch.

As the results showed, approximately 95 percent of the students achieved this and were rewarded with an assembly and a limo ride to Golden Corral. Before the students went to lunch, they gathered in the auditorium where they had the opportunity to meet Mayor-elect Alvin Brown.

Mayor-elect Brown congratulated the students for their performance on the FCAT and encouraged them to continue studying and working hard to meet their goals. He shared a personal story with the students about his childhood and how he had to struggle in school because he didn’t have the resources that other students had and how that just made him more determined to succeed.

Superintendent Pratt-Dannals also spoke to the students about the impressive job they did on the FCAT. The students were excited to learn that their overall scores had improved from the year before, and the Superintendent challenged them to continue this pattern.

After performing a few songs for their guests, the students were taken to lunch at Golden Corral in an Excursion and Hummer limousine.
