The students and staff of
Fort Caroline Elementary are welcoming back for the second year their Middle School Mentor/Tutor Program with
Fort Caroline Middle. The program began last year as a way to help teachers, encourage the elementary students and to give the middle school students an opportunity to volunteer their time before their school begins.
When the middle school students arrive at school, they meet up with the elementary teachers and other mentors to walk over to Fort Caroline Elementary together.
Currently there are more than 20 middle school students assisting the elementary teachers in numerous ways, from making copies, sorting books, organizing papers and especially helping the younger students with their reading skills.
“We are proud of the Middle School Mentor/Tutor Program and the cooperation between both schools,” says Fort Caroline Elementary Principal Tammy Boyd. “We have received positive feedback from the teachers, the middle school students and their parents.”
