Terry Parker High School Environmental Career Academy receives funding

The Terry Parker High School Academy of Coastal and Environmental Sciences (ACES), received a check for $2,000 from the PBS&J Foundation. Academy advisory board members Cheryl Propst and Carissa Epps of PBS&J, an environmental consulting and engineering firm, presented the check to school administrators, academy representatives and students, in a ceremony held in the classroom of lead teacher Dwayne Rogers.

The check will be used to help defray the cost of transporting the academy students primarily to project sites at Tree Hill, Jacksonville University, the Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve and Jacksonville Arboretum. The students are transported to these locations to allow them to participate in a variety of environmental and scientific field studies projects as a part of their overall academy experience. This check is the second in two years that the PBS&J Foundation has been able to provide as a part of their continued support of ACES.

Academy coordinator Lex Waters said, "It is through the generosity and foresight of professional business partners such as PBS&J that we are able to provide the students with a truly top-notch educational experience."
