When students from
Ramona Boulevard Elementary arrived to school on the last day in October, the messages they received from their teachers and administrators were clear: attendance and reading are super important!
In the morning, the students participated in a huge truancy awareness pep rally at the car riders’ and bus riders’ areas. Principal Donna Frank and attendance social worker Ms. Casey encouraged students and their parents to get the kids to school on time and every day.
Later that afternoon, students became their favorite book characters for the Storybook Character Parade. The event provided them with the opportunity to further participate in the stories they themselves or their class/grade level have been reading. The parade was a fun, colorful, upbeat and exciting event for both the participants and the audience.
