Pine Forest Hosts Family Fitness Night

The Pine Forest School of the Arts PTA recently hosted its fourth annual Family Fun Fitness Night for more than 150 parents, students, faculty and staff, providing them with the opportunity to participate in fitness-related activities.

UNF nursing students conducted BMI assessments for adults, and also hosted a red light/green light grocery shopping game, puppet show, jump rope and hula hoop contests for students.

Freshly made protein and fruit shakes were provided by Body by Vi. A healthy cooking demonstration was presented by a UNF dietician student, and Fresh Food Underground shared with parents how to pack a healthy lunch.

Other activities that parents and children participated in included Remote Control Fitness, Hip Hop by Joshua Yarborough, Wii and Xbox Dance Dance Revolution, Zumba Express and My Gym. Additionally, Learning Rx provided brain fitness tips.

Discounted healthy dinners were offered by Subway, and the class with the most attendees will receive a Subway party. Students also brought in leftover Halloween candy that Krantz Dental will send overseas to troops.

This event was one of the November activities that earned the Pine Forest PTA a $1,000 grant for its wellness program.
