For several years, faculty and staff members at
Chets Creek Elementary have held the Readers to Leaders campaign to encourage their students to not only become great readers, but to love reading.
This year, the staff created posters that will be placed throughout the school incorporating the FCAT’s new reading genres. The posters feature “celebrity” readers from their school, including the principal, media specialist, and music and art teachers, reading some of their favorite books.
Throughout the school year, teachers will be using books of the genres highlighted in the posters more in their lessons. They want to encourage students to be aware of the genres and to hopefully check them out more often in the media center.
