More than 35 speakers from various careers, including entrepreneurs, health care experts, architects, stunt coordinators, Federal Reserve employees, attorneys, and former mayor and current School Board member Tommy Hazouri, recently visited
Mandarin Middle School for the Great American Teach-In Day as part of the annual American Education Week celebration.
The guests visited eighth-grade classrooms and provided students with the opportunity to learn a great deal of information about various careers.
Principal Joy Recla and the entire Mandarin Middle family thank everyone who made this day a huge success! Mrs. Ediva Henderson, eighth-grade assistant principal, did a wonderful job coordinating the event, and special thanks to the PTSA and the Student Council Ambassadors who hosted a hospitality room for the guest speakers and escorted them around campus for the day.
Next year the school's goal is to have a speaker in every eighth-grade classroom, so mark your calendar! The 2011 Great American Teach-In will be on the third Thursday of November.
