San Mateo Elementary’s fifth-grade fervent readers and vocabulary whizzes put their skills to the test at the school’s annual spelling bee contest.
The semi-finalists participated on stage, narrowing down the competition to two final students. The two finalists, Gracie M. and Danielle L. battled for the championship. The girls competed in several rounds, giving their best efforts to spell some challenging words.
Danielle L. pulled through as the top speller for San Mateo. She will represent the school at the upcoming district competition in February 2012. Congratulations and good luck Danielle!
