Students from
Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology and
Jean Ribault High School are participating in the
Students Building Healthy Communities program. The program is a unique civic education and volunteerism program organized by the Close Up Foundation.
The students will work to make the community healthier, increase volunteerism in their schools and learn about their role in the political process. The participating students will also be tasked with designing and implementing a community action plan focused on building a healthy community.
In addition to the two Duval County public schools, 10 other schools in Florida and Minnesota are taking part in the community program.
