Imaginations came to life as the real D.W. of the Arthur books made her way onto the
Carter G. Woodson Elementary School campus for the reading campaign celebration.
D.W., also known as Kim Brown, made an appearance at the school to increase students’ involvement in stories and activities. Kim is the inspiration and sister of Marc Brown, the creator of the Arthur books.
During her visit, Kim presented a family photo album with images of her and her older brother.
Everyone in attendance received an introduction to Marc Brown and his characters and an inside look into the formula for drawing Arthur including a view of how Arthur books are bound.
The students were inspired as Kim gave them advice for writing and illustrating their own Arthur stories.
Ultimately, the day was enjoyable for all as teachers and students were able to have their books stamped with Marc Brown’s signature and with their favorite Arthur Adventure Series character, D.W.
