Spotlight On Education

January 27, 2012

DCPS Joins the I AM EQUAL Photo Campaign

Duval County's Office of Equity and Inclusion, school principals and the district's Lastinger partners participated in the University of North Florida's "Week of One" event on UNF campus as part of the I AM EQUAL FOUNDATION photo campaign. The theme of UNF's event was "A Celebration of Jacksonville Diversity and Inclusion."

I AM EQUAL FOUNDATION is a global scholarship initiative that empowers at-risk students to claim their personal worth and make education a priority in changing their lives. Duval County Public Schools and the University of Florida - Lastinger Center for Learning, have come together to build a community of practice around the shared core value and commitment to equity and diversity. By joining UNF in the "Week of One" event, the organizations united under one front for the sake of equality.

Thank you to the following DCPS' staff for participating in UNF's "Week of One" event:

Duval County Public Schools values the contributions made by all members of this diverse society, attesting to DCPS' mission of ensuring success for all students. Equity is the practice of instructing, provoking, guiding and supporting people to achieve mutually agreed upon objectives that interrupt historical patterns of inequity.

By associating with the I AM EQUAL FOUNDATION, DCPS endeavors to partner highly qualified teachers and administrators to engage in the practice of critical examination of issues related to social justice, restoration and responsibility.
