New Berlin Elementary rocked the school with a pep rally right before FCAT began. In addition to a performance and cheers from the Oceanway Middle School band and the Oceanway Middle School cheerleaders, New Berlin Elementary received a special surprise visit from Jaguars' cheerleader Jordan and New Berlin's own Cheer Girl, Principal Wanda Reese.
Third-grade teachers got into the spirit with a special song, while fourth-grade teachers led the students in the Chicken Dance. Not to be outdone, the fifth-grade teachers led the group in a cheer that brought down the house. Resource teachers also chanted this year's pep rally theme: "Score High, Beat the FCAT!"
The whole cafetorium was decorated with banners and signs made and signed by the kindergarten through second-grade classes. After the pep rally, Cheer Girl led the third- through fifth-grade students in a parade down the halls, while the younger students shook pom-poms to wish them good luck. The students were very excited about all of this attention given to them before the annual test.
