Chaffee Trail Elementary recently held their end-of-the-year Reading Celebration. Thanks to one of the school's business partners, Ben Merriewether of Horace Mann Insurance, the school was able to hold a bike giveaway to two students who have zero absences and no tardiness.
The three Jacksonville Sharks' players, Vladimir Richard, Marco Capozzoli and Bryan Evans, who helped announce the challenge to read more than 84,000 books in August, were present to help celebrate reaching the goal. The players helped the students dump buckets full of dirt and worms on Principal Walker's head. Shark Attack cheerleaders were also in attendance to cheer the students on.
In addition, the students who met their individual reading goals enjoyed storyteller Kay Burns, a movie in the media center, bounce houses and ice pops.
During the celebration, the school recognized all of their business partners and volunteers who logged more than 500 hours working in the school library, ensuring that students can always check out books.
