After weeks of preparation,
Pinedale Elementary School hosted a dedication ceremony for their CSS Reading Garden. The reading garden was developed through the generous donations and volunteer hours of school faculty, staff members, local businesses, parents and students. In order to internally raise funds for the reading garden, Pinedale Elementary held a "Pennies for Autism" drive during each week in April (National Autism Awareness Month). The development of the garden was a multi-step process led by Ms. Jane Shaffer, a general education fifth-grade teacher.
During the dedication ceremony, school administrators, CSS teachers and CSS students had the opportunity to experience a ribbon-cutting ceremony and peruse their favorite books while relaxing in the spectacular reading garden. In the future, the faculty and staff of Pinedale Elementary would like for the CSS Reading Garden to become a place for all students to socialize and share their love of reading.
