Sandalwood High Air Force Junior ROTC Unit FL-939 was selected as one of 403 units to receive the 2010-11 Air Force Junior ROTC Distinguished Unit Award.
These awards recognize Air Force Junior ROTC units that have performed above and beyond normal expectations, and that have distinguished themselves through outstanding service to their school and community while meeting the Air Force Junior ROTC mission of producing better citizens for America.
The members of the Junior ROTC unit at both schools dedicate their time and effort to participate in this program. It requires hours of practice and an immense level of commitment to team work in order to successfully develop a flawless unit.
“This is a great honor for these students and for their instructors,” said Superintendent Pratt-Dannals. “These students are leaders to their peers and they should all feel very proud of this accomplishment.”
The Junior ROTC program teaches students life skills, promotes community service, and instills responsibility and self-discipline into young teens.
Congratulations Sandalwood and Forrest high schools for receiving these distinguished awards!
