Brock Fazinni, CEO of Fazinni’s Coffee and Tea, has partnered with
Enterprise Learning Academy to plant a tree for every “A” a student makes each grading period. The project, Man-A-Tree in honor of the school mascot, manatee, will begin with the first grading period.
This partnership is a unique opportunity to grow this year’s school theme, the Global Manatee Mission (GMM), with students as they learn about a connected world. Students need a global perspective in order to be prepared as a global citizen. The GMM combines teaching ideas with web research to bridge geographic gaps, allowing the students a taste of different lands and cultures. At the end of the school year, students come together to share what they have learned in an International Festival.
Cultivating an environmentally and socially responsible business is paramount to Mr. Fazzini, and he wants to share his passion with Enterprise Learning Academy’s students by teaching them to be environmentally friendly at a young age. The company donates 10 cents for each product sold to the Trees for the Future Foundation, which plants tree saplings in deforested rain forests.
“What is amazing is that planting trees in deforested areas has caused dormant species of plants to reactivate and grow,” said Mr. Fazinni, CEO Fazinni’s Coffe and Tea. “This replaces oxygen, improves the biodiversity in the region and creates jobs.”
GMM will give the students opportunities to partner with schools, communities, countries, businesses and other organizations to become literate and responsible global citizens, and to weave new knowledge with the school’s curriculum.
