Students at New Berlin Elementary were visited in September by The NED Show, an
anti-bullying program that teaches kids to:
Never give up
Encourage others and
Do your best.
The show combines this positive message with yo-yos, humor and audience
participation to teach students how to deal with bullies and build excellent
character. The students were captivated by the excitement of the assembly and were eager to participate in the show when the speaker asked for volunteers.
Also in September, more than 550 grandparents and students attended the annual Grandparents' Tea. Students who attended presented their grandparents with a special card and sang them the Grandparent's Song. Principal Wanda Reese read the story Love You Forever, by Robert Munsch, while the students enjoyed a cookie and glass of tea with their special relative. Grandparents were honored for having the most grandchildren at New Berlin, for driving the furthest and for being the oldest grandparent in attendance.
Upcoming events at New Berlin Elementary include two Back to School dances for kindergarten through second-grade and third- through fifth-grade. The dances will take place October 6 and 7, respectively. The dances are safety patrol fundraisers.
Another upcoming event is the first All-Star Learning Family Night on October 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will be games and fun that tie-in with this year's school theme: “TEAM New Berlin, where Together Everyone Achieves More.”
