San Mateo Elementary students and teachers are preparing for a life lesson in a shared guardianship of the planet by adopting the theme “Going Green While Growing Great Minds” for the 2011-12 school year.
It is the goal of the school to integrate the Green: reduce, reuse recycle idea for student and teacher social awareness and participation while developing lives academically within the state standards’ curriculum.
The school is excited to develop and implement activities and events throughout the year to support the school’s theme and engage students in environmentally-friendly behaviors. As a reminder to students about the importance of recycling, there is a bulletin board posted in the school encouraging students to dispose of their recyclable items responsibly.
