Fletcher Middle School’s journalism students were given the opportunity to meet a local teen author, Allyson Richards. Allyson wrote and published her novel, Enlightened, at age sixteen, and is now working on her third novel in the series.
Students listened to Allyson discuss the importance of reading and being proactive in accomplishing her journalistic dreams. They were encouraged to improve their reading and writing skills.
After meeting Allyson, several of the students brought a copy of her book home and had finished reading it within a few days, now anxiously awaiting the sequel. Many students even expressed interest in writing novels after Allyson’s visit.
