The 2011 Duval County Public Schools’ retirees were honored for their contribution to their students and the district at a dinner reception. Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals opened the night at the Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership, thanking each attendee and encouraging them to travel, rest and return to volunteer for DCPS.

School’s pop chorus entertained the audience with a musical selection including the national anthem, “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” from the Disney movie
Lilo & Stitch, and Pat Benatar’s “We Belong.” The pop chorus director, Jeff Ackerman, and assistant director, Kate Mazotta, performed an Italian duet of “Time to Say Goodbye.”
After a buffet dinner catered by Chartwells Thompson School Dining Services, the event’s emcee, Terri Cicero, announced each retiree with their length of service. The Honorable Paula D. Wright congratulated the retirees as she posed with them for a photo opportunity.
Thank you, Duval County Public Schools’ retirees for all you have contributed. Good luck in your future endeavors!
