Fishweir Elementary’s students showed off their reading skills during the annual Family Reading Night. Families traveled through stations, going over various books and reading activities.
Fifth-grade students performed an Alice in Bookland reading strategy dramatization. Students and their parents participated in activities based on the five building blocks of reading. Some of the highlighted activities were vocabulary trees, fluency tables for first- through fifth-graders, tier two vocabulary, phonemic awareness and phonics.
Handouts for Read It Forward Jax! were distributed to parents at informational tables. Parents were also able to sign up for Jacksonville Public Library cards for themselves and the students.
