Pine Forest’s Dance Ensemble Makes Debut Appearance at Jacksonville Fair

The Pine Forest School of the Arts’ dance ensemble made their debut appearance at the Greater Jacksonville Fair. The dance ensemble was created by Principal Tamara Williams to expose the city of Jacksonville to the wonderfully talented dance students of Pine Forest. Under the direction of Mrs. Hammock, second-grade teacher, the ensemble has been a positive new edition to the Pine Forest family.

More than 200 students showed up to audition for the dance ensemble and 76 dancers were selected. The three dance ensembles include kindergarten and first-graders, second- and third-graders, and fourth- and fifth-graders.

“For many of the students it was their very first audition, but it will not be their last,” said Principal Williams. “When my students enter Pine Forest it is not only my job to provide them with a rigorous education, but also to groom them in their arts area to be successful at both LaVilla and Douglas Anderson.”

The Pine Forest Dance Ensemble received standing ovations from the crowd for all three performances. The ensemble will be performing at the River City Arts Market, the Jacksonville Landing and the Miss Jacksonville and Miss River City pageants.
