Lee High School’s International Logistics Career Academy has overcome a vast amount of challenges in its first year of activity. One of the academy’s latest achievements occurred when they were invited by the National Career Academy Coalition (NCAC) coordinators to present at the 15th annual conference in Anaheim, California.
More than 60 educators traveled from across the nation to attend the three-day conference. Louis Simmons, career and technical education supervisor, Jerry Waxman, assistant principal, and Lee High School’s teachers, Marion Walker and John Russell, jointly presented an hour-long session at the conference.
The presentation detailed the successes and challenges of the inaugural year of Lee’s International Logistics Career Academy. The speakers highlighted the academy’s success in the area of recruiting local business and government personnel to participate on the advisory board, including JAXPORT and Florida State College at Jacksonville. Membership in the academy has grown from 40 to 150 students over the year.
Congratulations to Lee High School’s International Logistics Career Academy!
