James Weldon Johnson Promotes Reading and the Arts at Barnes & Noble

Students and parents from James Weldon Johnson participated in their annual literacy and the arts event at the St. Johns Towne Center Barnes & Noble in support of Read It Forward Jax!.

The school’s band and drama department performed at the event. The audience crowded around as students and teachers read their favorite poems. The Renaissance Performers, the school’s drama team, acted out favorite scenes from Twelfth Night. The night was capped off with shows from James Weldon Johnson’s talented musicians, singers, artists and dancers.

Following the show, attendees were invited to browse around the store, stopping at various reading corners. As part of the efforts of Read It Forward Jax!, James Weldon Johnson Middle showed their support for reading in connection with the performing arts.
