Daniel Flint, a history teacher at
A. Philip Randolph Academies of Technology, was chosen as the recipient of the Tom & Betty Lawrence American History Teacher Award. The award is presented by the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR). It recognizes outstanding social studies teachers for actively addressing the history of the American Revolutionary era.
The award was presented to Mr. Flint during a ceremony at the San Jose Country Club. He was presented with a plaque from Principal Kenneth Reddick and David Ramseur, Florida State Chapter President of NSSAR.
Mr. Flint will move forward to compete for the state and national American History Teacher Award. One state finalist will be submitted to the executive director of NSSAR in February. The national winner will be announced in March and will receive a $1,500 savings bond or a trip to the Freedoms Foundation Summer Teacher Graduate Workshop in Valley Forge, PA.
In Mr. Flint’s classroom, technology is incorporated into the curriculum to bring American history to life. Through this technology, students are also able to access the learning materials from home. Mr. Flint’s use of innovative teaching practices helps students understand the impact of history on today’s society.
Congratulations Mr. Flint and good luck in the state and national competitions!
