Mandarin Oaks Students Receive Visit from Guest Author

Mandarin Oaks kindergarten students had a special visitor come to read to them, Cheryl Dubberly. Cheryl is dedicated to writing quality stories for young readers. Cheryl has two children's books published, "Don't Sleep Through the Holidays" and "He Bears a Resemblance," with a third book becoming available next year. She has been a writer for a national blog network that caters to mothers of young children and served as a mentor to several young married women in the Apples of Gold program. She is now a full-time author and travels to schools, book fairs and festivals sharing her books with others. She is a native of Florida and lives in Jacksonville with her family.

The students really enjoyed being able to listen to and interact with a real author. Her visit was the highlight of their day. Cheryl displayed brilliant illustrations and offered a means to enhance her audience's vocabulary with her writing. She has applied a view of the simple, care-free life through lovable characters in both storybooks.

The school was very pleased to have Cheryl share her books with students.
