VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS
POLICIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Volunteers and business partners are critical to the success of Duval County schools. The assistance and support they provide to students, faculty, and parents is invaluable. To contribute to an effective school environment, volunteers work within guidelines established by schools, and under the direction and supervision of teachers and school staff.

General Policies
  • Have an application on file in the school's main office.
  • Attend the volunteer orientation conducted by your school's volunteer coordinator.
  • Each time you volunteer, sign in and record your hours in the volunteer book located in the school's main office.
  • If you must be absent, call the school. Both teachers and students count on your assistance and will miss you, but they will be reassured that you cared enough to call.
  • Wear your volunteer name tag or button provided by the school while on campus.
  • Follow school policies and procedures provided by the school volunteer coordinator (fire drills, school ethics, student dress codes, and confidentiality).
Responsibilities
  • Be prompt, dependable, and reliable.
  • Notify the school when commitments can't be kept.
  • Treat all students fairly.
  • Keep student work and behavior confidential.
  • Discuss concerns that may arise with the teacher and/or volunteer coordinator.
  • Communicate regularly with the teacher and/or school staff. Volunteer work should be a rewarding experience. Advise if your talents would be more suitable with a different placement.
  • Remember you are a role model for the students.
