special projects
The function of the special project
division is to focus on project design, development and
alignment of special projects and initiatives relating
to community and family engagement. Examples of
projects include: district compliance, policies and
procedures; grant research; special events such as
awards ceremonies; department communication through
district newsletters and website and special projects
such as Principal for a Day, conference planning and
other projects in collaboration with community partners
or as assigned.
B.E.L.L. Special
Projects
Building Engaged Leaders in Learning
The metaphor of an old fashioned
school bell represents the value of education and
specifically the value of partnerships in education.
Through the Department of Community and Family
Engagement, a series of B.E.L.L. special events will
offer opportunities for all stakeholders to become
engaged in supporting the well-being of all Duval County
Public School students and their families.
Special Projects
Principal for a Day
Our first, B.E.L.L. special project is the
Principal for a day project.
On January 14th, many DCPS Principals
will hand over their keys to the school to a community
business leader to become the Principal for the day.
This project encourages the private sector to
take a leadership role in public education through
having the opportunity to play the role of Principal for
one day. The goal of the program is
for community and business stakeholders to translate
their one day experience into a long-term relationship
with the school thus supporting the overall academic
achievement of students.
Following the school visits, a Pseudo-Principal
celebration/de-briefing will occur at 2:00-4:00 at the
Schultz Center. All participants are encouraged
to attend. For further information, please contact,
