Duval County Public
Schools consist of more than 160 schools throughout the
Jacksonville metropolitan area. The district is divided
into
four clusters: two elementary clusters,
one middle school cluster and one high
school cluster. In operation during the 2009-2010 school
year, we have 103
elementary schools, three
K-8 schools, 25
middle schools, 19
high schools, one
6-12 school,
one
6-10 school, three
alternative schools, three
exceptional student centers and eight
charter schools. In addition to the schools operated
by Duval County Public Schools, there are 12
juvenile
justice schools. DCPS also has a virtual schools
program entitled
Duval
Virtual Instruction Academy.
Duval County Public Schools, and all of the schools under its jurisdiction, has earned
accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. As one of the nation's largest public school districts, Duval County serves approximately 123,000 students.
