If a child becomes ill while at school, the child is isolated until the parent or guardian can be notified or the child can be returned home.

Medication may be given to a child at school ONLY if the school has a completed parent permission medication form which is supplied by the school. Medication prescribed by a doctor must be in the original container with the prescription label affixed and dosage directions clearly labeled. Over-the-counter medication must be in the original container with dosage directions clearly labeled. No expired medication may be administered.

School nurses visit all schools regularly, providing services to students and helping school staff meet the health needs of students.

A student must bring a written explanation signed by the parent or guardian when returning to school following an absence.
