2009-2010 Transportation and School Schedule Changes
Transportation Changes
Beginning on the first day of school, Monday, August 24, 2009, the following changes to transportation will go into effect:
- The district policy for transportation eligibility has been changed to align with State Board of Education Rule 6A-3.001. Transportation will be provided to students who live more than two (2) miles from his/her assigned school.
- The district policy for distance to a bus stop has been changed to align with State Board of Education Rule 6A-3001. Students may be traveling up to one and one-half (1 ½) miles between home and the bus stop.
- All high school after school activity routes will be reduced to one (1) departure time. The schools will choose the time depending on their specific needs.
- "Express Routes" will be developed at the secondary level (middle and high) for all schools with non-neighborhood routes to include magnet programs, ESOL, Title 1 Choice, Opportunity Scholarship, McKay Scholarship, out of home transportation under McKinney-Vento, etc. Stops will be at or near schools.
- Transportation to the Marine Science Center will no longer be provided to the full time students attending there.

safety tips. The Transportation Department
has a Call Center set up from August 11th to September 4th from 7:00 AM to 6:30

School Schedule Changes
For the 2009-2010 school year, secondary class schedules have been adjusted, shortening the school day by 45 minutes.
*Please note: There are exceptions to this adjustment (see below).
Elementary school days have not been shortened, however there are some
exceptions to the schedule as listed below. The school day time schedule will be as follows:
TRADITIONAL SCHOOL TIMES
- Elementary: 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- Middle School: 9:45 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- High School: 7:30 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.
*EXCEPTIONS
The schools below will not be following the traditional schedule as shown above, and will have the following schedules:
